» » » » The Fort Nongqayi Museum Village

The Fort Nongqayi Museum Village houses a series of museums covering a wide range of local interest from the early Iron Age settlements to traditional Zulu art and culture, from natural history to missionary history and from wars between kingdoms to the battle against the tsetse fly. The Zululand Historical Museum is housed in a picturesque three-turreted white fort while the Vukani Museum of Zulu Art and Culture houses an exceptional collection of art based on traditional crafts and the Mission Museum pays tribute to the early Norwegian missionaries who were the first to introduce Christianity to the Zulu Kingdom. Take a culture break with a fantastic bistro-type meal at Adams’ Outpost Restaurant housed in a 19th Century corrugated-iron settler’s homestead. Well signposted.
