When King Cetshwayo returned from exile in 1883, he was allowed to return to Ulundi where he built his new capital to the east of his old capital which had been destroyed in the Anglo-Zulu War. His new capital, which is often referred to as Ondini III, was smaller than the previous. However his former kingdom was on the brink of civil war and within months Ondini III was burnt to the ground by his enemies. King Cetshwayo once more had to take refuge, this time in Nkandla Forest.
Continue a few kilometres after Ondini on the P700 to Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Game Park.
