KwaShushu is a natural hot spring on an island in the middle of the Thukela River below Ntunjambili (Kranskop). Although there are no formal camping facilities, many families make an annual trek to the springs and set up camp during July turning the island into a small village of about 500 people. The site is best visited in the winter when the river is low and access to the hot water in the rock pools is easiest.
Cross the bridge at Middledrift and turn right onto a gravel road. Follow the signage.
