This small Reserve of valuable coastal vegetation offers good birding and a variety of small animal species as well as a picnic site overlooking the Thukela River as it heads for the ocean. There are two trails, one a short educational walk which explains the uses of trees and plants in Zulu traditional medicine and a longer trail through bush-clad slopes overlooking the river. The Reserve adjoins the Heritage Sites of Fort Pearson and the Ultimatum Tree. There are six camp sites (two with plug points) and shared ablutions with hot and cold water.
The Nature Reserve is well signposted from the R102.
